The Dirty Picture is a biopic dramatizing the tragic life of the south siren Silk Smitha. Born as Vijayalaxmi, she was discovered by an Indian director at a flour mill and was renamed Smitha. She got the name ‘Silk’ after her character in her first major role in a Tamil movie.

Along with Vidya Balan who plays Silk Smitha, the movie also stars Naseeruddin ShahTusshar Kapoor plays the role of a writer of Smitha’s films and her love interest followed by Emraan Hashmi who’s role has yet to be revealed. The film is directed by Milan Luthria and produced Shobha Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor. who’s character is told to be along the lines of an ageing South Indian superstar;

The film will release on December 2nd, 2011.
